Bellringer turns the meetings in your calendars into alarms. It has no account, no server and no analytics. Its developer doesn't collect, receive or store any of your information.
What Bellringer reads
With your permission, Bellringer reads the events in your calendars through Apple's calendar framework, on your device. For each event it reads the title, time and calendar; the invite list, to find your own reply and role; and the event's link and notes, which it checks for a meeting link you can join. It doesn't read your email, contacts, photos or location.
What Bellringer saves on your device
- Your rules and settings.
- Choices you make for particular meetings. These identify a meeting by a scrambled code, not its title.
- When each meeting's alarm was set to ring, kept until a day afterwards so no meeting rings twice.
Bellringer doesn't save meeting titles, notes, attendees or meeting links.
What Bellringer adds to your calendars
Nothing, unless you import a calendar file. Its events then go into a new calendar in the Calendar app. Bellringer never changes your existing events. If you subscribe to a calendar from Bellringer, the Calendar app adds the subscription and keeps it up to date.
What leaves your device
Nothing is sent to Bellringer's developer or to anyone else. Bellringer has no networking code of its own.
Alarm titles are handed to iOS so the alarm can show them. If you hide titles, the alarm shows only the time.
If you turn on iCloud sync, your rules and choices are stored in your own iCloud account, using Apple's key-value storage, so your other devices can use them. Calendars in that copy are named by scrambled codes rather than titles, and the key to those codes is stored with them so your devices recognise the same meetings. Only you can reach this data. Bellringer's developer can't.
Your settings are part of your iCloud or computer backups, like other app data. Apple's privacy policy covers how Apple handles iCloud and backups.
Deleting your data
Deleting Bellringer removes what it saved on the device, apart from one random key in the iOS Keychain, which iOS keeps after an app is deleted. That key contains nothing about you or your meetings.
To remove the iCloud copy, turn off iCloud sync in Bellringer's Settings and choose to delete it from iCloud. Events you imported stay in the Calendar app until you delete them there.
Children
Bellringer isn't aimed at children, and it collects nothing from anyone.
